Masandawana Gear Up for Easter Fixture Against the Chilli Boys

Easter weekend is upon us and for the Yellow Nation, it will be another weekend to watch Mamelodi Sundowns as they return to competition following the international break. They are set to host Gqeberha-based side, Chippa United on Friday night at Loftus Versfeld.

After two weeks of no domestic football, Masandawana will be back on the touchline to continue with their league title defence. Speaking to forward, Iqraam Rayners, ahead of the Easter clash, he expressed that the team is confident, as they look to return to competition and continue with their winning streak at home.

“I think the preparations have been going well, especially with the amount of rest some of us had during the international break. Even though the preparations were short, we know what to do when we get to Loftus. It’s all about focusing on the match and doing our best.”

The Chilli Boys are currently looming the relegation zone, seating 13th on the log. Rayners, however, is stating that they are weary of the wounded Chippa side and will not head into the game resting on their laurels.

“We know this fixture will be a difficult one because teams at the bottom – especially at this stage of the season – are fighting to keep the team in the league. So, we know it’s not going to be an easy game. For us, is to keep our momentum and ensure that we win this game and the ones to follow,” he stated.

The Bafana forward concluded by wishing everyone a safe Easter season, saying: “I just want to wish everyone a safe and exciting Easter Weekend. Be safe on the road and we hope to see the Yellow Nation on Friday night.”

Mamelodi Sundowns will  host Chippa United in the Betway Premiership on Friday night at Loftus Versfeld. Kick-off has been scheduled for 19H30, live on SuperSport TV.
