Mamelodi Sundowns had a total of 6 players picked to represent the South African Football National team in the two September friendly internationals matches which served as preparation for the back-to-back 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Liberia in March.
The experienced Bafana Ba Style maestro Themba Zwane formed part of the 23-man squad alongside Teboho Mokoena, Khuliso Mudau, Rushine De Reuck, Aubrey Modiba and Ronwen Williams, as Bafana Bafana successfully wrapped up their campaign.
South Africa thrashed Sierra Leone 4-0 with Mshishi displaying an unforgettable performance scoring two goals against the nickname, while Modiba scored the fourth to sink the Leone Stars at FNB Stadium on Saturday. Bafana locked horns with Botswana a few days later in another friendly, scoring the only goal in the match by The Brazilians midfielder Mokoena who is in his second season with the Tshwane giants.
With the FIFA international break coming to an end, Bafana Ba Style returned to training on Tuesday to prepare for their upcoming mouthwatering battle with Orlando Pirates in the first leg of the MTN8 semi final scheduled to take place on Saturday, 1 October in Soweto. The second leg of the Wafa Wafa competition will be played on 22 October at the home of The Brazilians. Tickets are available for both games at TicketPro outlets.
