Mosimane Impressed with Downs’ Strength

Coach Pitso Mosimane was full of praise for his teams’ second half performance which saw them come from a goal down to win 3-1 against a stubborn, well organised Stellenbosch team;

“It was a difficult game, I think Stellenbosch put in a shift, but they always put in a shift. They are always a team that fights. They are a really tough team with big boys and a lot of gladiators.”

“I think in the second half we played much better. We finished very well, we increased the intensity and we attacked”

Mosimane made several changes to the starting XI and was happy with the strength in depth shown by his men;

“We have a group of good football players and we need to trust them, the way they are going they are carrying us.”

“It’s tough times for us, we have a difficult program, you know where we are coming from, we are playing tonight and we play again on Saturday [Telkom Knockout Final]. We have no excuses”

“We rested [a lot of players], but the team is good, the team is strong. This team is gaining confidence, and it’s encouraging.”

Coach Mosimane was elated for the young duo of Keletso Makgalwa and Sphelele ‘Pitso’ Mkhulise after the game and drew comparisons between Mkhulise and Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta:

“Sometimes we don’t make enough noise about our MDC boys, but tonight our boys from the academy changed the game”

“Pitso scored the same type of goal he scored against the Angolans [Petro de Luanda]. He’s got that Iniesta move to go inside the box, he’s a silent killer.”

Mosimane will now look to regroup ahead of this weekend’s crunch Telkom Knockout Final.

    Thank you, what matters most is the 3 points collected, one mountain down. But we wish to congratulate the Coach for such a belief and faith in a new team. To come from behind and win the game is fantastic. It makes us have less talks about the blunders they committed . It makes us begin to focus on the positives as it ought to be and forget about the negatives. We are happy, one game at a time, we can put that one behind and leave it to the critics, we can happily focus on the Telkom Final. One game at a time . We must be ready to give a fight, find us a Christmas present, just to allow us to have news for the festive season. KBY

    I am a passionate Sundowns supporter and Pitso fan. But I just wish that my coach would stop mentioning Chiefs in almost every interview!
