Head coach Pitso Mosimane has expressed his delight with his team’s performance in Sunday’s derby win over SuperSport United. Mosimane praised the way his team improved from their midweek defeat to Orlando Pirates:
“We controlled the game all the time, from the word go. When we had the chance to control the game and be on the ball, we had the chance to go and score.”
“What I like about our team is that we corrected our build-up from the back today. Against Pirates we were not moving the ball properly at the back, we corrected that and the game was free-flowing like the USM game which is good. Once we have that confidence we can begin to pass into open spaces in the midfield. They played three midfielders as usual, but we were able to find our free man in the middle and that helped us to control the game.”
The coach also singled out the performance of midfield stalwart Andile Jali and heaped praise on the player:
“AJ played a fantastic game, you could see the class, he is such a good footballer player. I’m so happy for him, he’s coming up and after that big mistake, that’s when you see your top players, he never went under and he kept playing, that shows the character of the player. He’s a top player.
Themba Zwane returned from his midweek suspension and also received complimentary words from the coach who was happy to have him back in the starting XI:
“Whenever Mshishi is around he plays the music, it’s like we had one or two men extra in the midfield. Mshishi, [Sibusiso] Vilakazi and [Gaston] Sirino combine well, when they are on song you see Sundowns playing.”
