MOSIMANE REACTION TO WYDAD MATCH

Coach Pitso Mosimane reacted after the result of the Caf Champions League first leg semifinals match against old-foes Wydad Casablanca. Mosimane went into detail to explain what he was happy with and what he was not entirely satisfied with.

“While I’m not entirely happy with the result because we lost 2-1, I’m happy with the performance from the team bacause it’s always a difficult place for us here in Morocco but we improve”

Is was the experienced and well-traveled defender Anele Ngcongca who scored the all-important away goal for The Brazilians to put matter level before the halftime break much to the delight of the 100 strong Sundowns supporters who traveled with the team up north.

However ‘Jingles’ as the most successful coach in South Africa is affectionately known lamented his side’s mistakes in defence, but was pleasantly impressed with the pressure applied by the team when in attack.

“We made a lot of mistakes at the back, but you have to understand that everyone is stressed because it’s the Caf Champions League semifinals and everyone wants to go to the finals. I believe we should have cleared the ball in the first goal”

“It was the first time I see Wydad so stressed at the back, it’s also because we scored the important away goal”

Sundowns will now have to complete the job in the second leg of this crucial tie in a Weeks time at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

It was nice game indeed but atleast the coach is mentioning our mistakes at the back but also tiredness of the players since they not rested it counts as well but we are Mamelodi Sundowns we will bounce back.

  2. Bryn

I like the ambitious kind of coach we have at Sundowns even though things are piling up infront hindering us(Sundowns)to clinch our success. The fixtures in PSL do not favour Sundowns schedule, the “points” to be deducted also don’t but big up Masandawana.

  3. Sbu Gama

I wish the coach would rest some players on Tuesday for the Saterday match.Zwane,Keke,Mabunda,Langerman,Maboe.

  4. Bryn Mantyi

We also depended on luck right now, let luck be on our (Sundowns)side since the schedule does not favour Sundowns players are tired.
But let’s do it Kabo Yellow Masandawana.

  5. Sbu Sebole

If we focus during their visit,we will be able to score three goals. We must be rampant on them the way we did to Al Ahly.We normally play good football at home.We need to reach the finals.

  6. What a game members, Dennis made a mistake on the first goal however made brilliant saves and our defense made a mistake on the first goal. I am very happy with the away goal.we MUST finish the game in Pretoria. I see us taking this CAF. Our game is improving a lot. THANK YOU BOYS FOR YOUR HARD CONTINUED WORK , YOU ARE AMAZING I AM 100 percent behind you.

  7. Sithembele Madubane

On our coach mr Mosimane I believe, and am sure the boys will make us proud. Go and do it bafana, nt for the yellow nation bt for South Africa.

Sundowns have Improved a lot jealos down. As for yesterday I cant blame anyone regarding goals conceded, I think everyone tried their best under hostile. Let’s for once be proud of our boys without conditions or pointing fingers. Maboe is improving, Morena is getting better. Rome was never built in one day.

  9. Lindile

It’s tough times for the boys, but have a well organised technical team I fear no One, we shall prosper against all odds.

  10. Zipho

I think we played very well,bt in our nxt game let start with Tade instead of Maboe,n can we please exploit their left back position nxt week since their first choice left back will be suspended n I think Sirino or Zwane should be played on da ryt since they dnt really stay on da line n deliver crosses……jst my opinion

  11. Joseph

Sundowns will make it to the finals, and likely to meet TP Mazembe. Eperance has slim chances. Go Sundowns go!

  12. Muhammad Mqandashe

Well done Masandawana. I just wish that Maboe could release the ball early so that he doesn’t get dispossessed. I wish Sirino could control his temper because his antics could cost the team. I wish Wayne is fielded as he was against Al Ahly to marshal the defence. We are behind you and we know you ‘ll get to the finals, in sha Allah.

  13. Mandla

We played well under the circumstances and we have another 90 minutes to make things levelled and go through

  14. Sthembiso Ngema

Masandawana Amahle I wonder what stopping PSL to postpone Leopards game on Tuesday…To allow us the more preparation time for 2nd leg…..Anyway I trust our team will make us proud by reaching final again…Good luck to Our Team Downs…

  15. Bongani

We have chances to win both PSL and Caf champions league if team can give their best level of play ..God bless Sundowns

I am impressed with the comments above, all people saying their opinions in unit, for a very long time where l see so many positive comments , l think you deserve a round of applause for this, saying your comment without standing on another’s way. You can tell people are flowing here saying different things. We are encouraged to and we see things the same way. Re writing history and breaking some records, It is possible. We keep the faith. One game at a time.KBY

At this level very few teams lose at their home grounds before their fans, I agree with the statistics, all games kick off at 15H00 on Saturday. We need the victory, we pray that God help us conquer Africa, its time to unleash your greatness Masandawana. We keep the hope , we keep the faith, we raise our support and our unity, we focus to the finishing line taking one game at a time. The North Africans must begin to realize that other nations in Africa exist for this cause. Players must show mental strength against Leopards tomorrow as victory on that game positions us well to retain the League and a victory on Saturday will show character as we we battle it for the most lucrative African price, We need it the most. Together we can do it, at once we can shout for our victory and cheer these guys. The power of the 12TH man making a difference in the stadiums.

  18. yellow Nation

We’re are going to final, well done Boys, remember 2016 billiat scored a very important away goal to Zesco united where we lost by 2 goals to 1 and we came home beat them 2-0 I strongly believe that we will win even better without considing

  19. Boh

Masa.dawana, the news is out,R250.000 only no points taken we are back, boys show them this has always been our s

  20. Good news Masamdawa, we were fined and no poi ts deduction, mara now I am getting greedy of winning both caf and the league the Rats of Dalom is making too much noise. Let us kill leapards at least 4-0 and close the goal difference story. I am coming.

  21. Themba

Finally thanks to Gavin Hunt for reminding us how a certain team won the league in 1994 after they were awarded a point and went on to win the CAF championship the following year.
Is funny that they insist theirs is a genuine star forgetting how they got there.

  22. Jay-zee

I just want the coach to give other boys a chance in the leopards game, rest players for the second leg, we don’t want injuries, we can beat leopards with guys on the bench. Also please coach must give Thela a chance, Bomweene concede silly goals we ask please to see Thela at the post. Please coach, likes of Pieters were given a chance.

  23. Dalom

Well played game and good commitment from the players. We’re still lacking a lot upfront and at the back and it’ll take a very long time to replace Khama Billiat. I’m not really sure why Nasciimento was drifting to the right in tge game when he can’t even use his right foot.

  24. Dalom

But why was Arendse fined in this long-standing case against the PSL. The team should order the technical to pay the fine and not Arendse. He didn’t transgress any rules here, but was ordered by the technical team

  25. Dalom

    @Kick Boboza
Don’t get carried away yet by the decision of the Advocate not to deduct points. The PSL can still appeal the decision like they did in the Ajax/Tendai Ndoro matter. I’ll only celebrate once the league issues a statement and declare that they won’t appeal the matter. The team needs to so it’s job on the field of play an convincingly win all the remaining matches

    1. @ Dalom actually nobody is wrong here, our technical team requested the Match commissioner to advise if they can replace Morena with Wayne and he agreed accepted the changed team list and signed, so that means that their employee gave wrong advice. Just as i said it your Pirates will never win the league. you can appeal if you like but we have the muscle to continue with the case. Check this weekend Cape Town City.

  27. Skhumba

Hello fellow Sundowns fans! I just need to make one point that i think Muzi Kenene is missing. He wants Lebusa to play ahead of Arendse but i tend to disagree. If you look at both of these two players they can complement each other very well. You can actually pair them in central defence. Lebusa play on the left side of the central defence meaning he must compete with Ricardo and not Arendse. Wayne plays on the right side of the defence and the defence is better organised if Wayne partners Richardo or Lebusa. Watch out if both Lebusa and Ricardo are played as central defenders, we tend to concede unnecessary goals because Ricardo cannot use his right leg and so is Lebusa who is left footed. Thus why i see it. If we can win today against Leopards we stand a good chance to win the league. Pirates will struggle against Cape Town away and Polokwane at home

  28. Bango

Fear not , be steadfast and very courageous in everything, do not worry of anything now, lets focus on supporting the team as our duty, encouraging and motivating them. Speaking well and speaking good things towards the players, our support must be able to carry the exhausted team and raise their hopes for the final push. This team is on a mission to make us happy, l am yet to see an angry comment from a very happy person. We can reserve our comments and unleash them as we celebrate the coming victories. These two crucial games coming can real make us very happy when we win.Keep the support, your support is needed more than ever.KBY

  29. I’m gratified by the manner in which sundownsfc.co.za covers this kind of issue! Usually on point, often polemic, consistently thoughtful as well as thought-provoking.

  30. Well-written piece. I just forwarded this on 5/11/2019 to a classmate who’s been doing a little research of her own on this subject. To show her appreciation, she just bought me dinner! So, let me express my gratitude by saying: Thank you for the drink!

  31. FUJIE

Congratulation to Pitso , Technical staff , Players and the fellow masadawna supporters for winning the League . Lets us focus on all other coming trophies in this season.
