Pitso Mosimane was pleased that his Mamelodi Sundowns side held on until the end to grab all three points at home against Highlands Park last night.
The victory pushed the Brazilians to second on the Absa Premiership table ahead of Sunday’s top of the log clash with Kaizer Chiefs at Loftus Versfeld Stadium. It was striker Mauricio Affonso’s superbly taken shot in the dying moments of the game that guaranteed Mosimane and his charges got all three points.
“It was a tough game, but you know that when you play Highlands Park you are not going to have it easy. They are very strong, physically good and they don’t allow you the space to play,” the coach said after the game.
“They are very good with one on ones and we knew about it. The only way to score was to take them away from their positions. Hlompho Kekana, for instance, was playing a little bit wider to open up the space and would take their central midfielder to the side.”
Mosimane still felt the game could have been wrapped up earlier.
“We should have scored in the first half and overall we hit the post twice. At some point we felt it wasn’t going to come, but eventually we believed because we were pushing and they were tired in the second half, hence we found spaces to play. It was the first time I saw Highlands tired to be honest, but maybe they spent a lot of energy in the Telkom Knockout cup midweek. We were stronger in the end,” said the coach.
Affonso is the man. We indeed have a natural striker now.
I agree with you member, he is a natural number 9, the position that has been missing since Castro left
Asazi kanjane sesfikile, they led by up to eleven points and they started to make noise wishing that we loose and not reach them but now the lead is 2 points, Sir Pitso please lower that noise level. there is no way we cannot beat this Zebras. The Zoo is starting to irritate a lot of people and hence I have been asked to do something with this noise level. And the best solution is to demote these Zebras from the umbrella holding position by putting 5 goals past them. we will do our job and leave the rest to the Rats. there is no way Meza will not score on sunday, Affonso will come and Score 2 goals, Mshishi will be on the score sheet, “Professor matatazela” Sirino will be on the score sheet, the fifth goal will come from a defender. MARK MY WORDS . Sir Pitso we are behind you go for them, I know you are fearless Al Ahly and the rest are testimony of how dangerous we can be.
Interesting support Kick Boboza, l like the positivity from your script, I have never heard a friendly match result that has ever been talked like the one for Hellix cup. Everywhere and everyone is talking of it, can Sundowns do us good for real and cancel that popular story, its real finishing our data. I also want to see something, all eyes are on that match, some things ought to be sorted early, dethroning others for a while just for control and we continue with other continental duties we come back and take one game at a time to end at the rightful position. We are behind the Yellow machine.KBY
Masandawana, I have a proposal for replacement of the CBD. It’s as follows:
AMG (Affonso, Meza and Gaston)
AMG Turbo (Affonso, Meza and Gaston + Themba)
AMG Twin Turbo (Affonso, Meza and Gaston + Themba and Thapelo)
AMG Twin Turbo V12 (Affonso, Meza and Gaston + Themba, Thapelo and Vilakazi)
I like the sound of it Sandawana , lets hope the players will give this nice label meaning and attention .
Interesting!!! Yes lead the way , lets see if those combinations bring us that Spark! l just like people who start things till they are the talk of the League.
