Head Coach Pitso Mosimane praised his sides’ ability to break down a tough Polokwane City defence to earn a 1-0 win at home. Mosimane felt the Brazilians could have been more clinical in front of goal but praised substitute Sibusiso Vilakazi for his 86th-minute goal:
“They were organised and tough to break down.”
“I don’t know how many times we can miss, everyone missed, but finally we got a goal, Vila gave us a goal, a good super sub.”
The Brazilians will close out 2019 with a trip to Algeria to face USM Algers in the CAF Champions League. Mosimane says his team knows what to expect as they prepare for the trip:
“We are leaving on Monday, landing on Tuesday, we’ll train on Christmas day.”
“USM is a tough team, the grandstands will be full. We have the mentality to play that game, we know how to play against the North Africans, we can deal with that.”
“I believe we can win, they are dangerous upfront but I think we can find a way through.”
Downs take on USM Algers at the Omar Hamadi Stadium on Saturday 28 December. Kick-off is at 16:00.
I just hope we’re not going to buy Judas Moseamedi in January. We have this tendency of buying one hit wonders and when they don’t suit our style of play we discard them. Members let us not be negative, Tebogo is not a striker but he crosses the balls very well, sometimes he makes mistakes where he wants to trap and run with the ball at the same time.
