Pride and Style: Sundowns Ladies Ready to Showcase at the Women’s Cup

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies have landed in the United States and are gearing up for the prestigious Women’s Cup, which takes place from August 14-17.

Coach Jerry Tshabalala expressed his delight at the highly anticipated four-team tournament, saying, “We are so excited to be here to learn a lot from different teams with different playing styles. As much as we are the African Champions, we are here to test ourselves on a global stage, gain valuable experience and measure ourselves against some of the best teams in the world. Our focus is on showcasing our talent, growing as a team and representing Africa with pride. This tournament is an incredible opportunity for us to learn, adapt and elevate our game to the next level.”

Captain Zanele Madonsela shared the same sentiments, stating, “We are not here to simply make up the numbers; we are here to compete, to challenge ourselves and to leave a mark. This is a chance for us to show the world what we are capable of and to demonstrate the progress we have made as a team. We know the level of competition will be high, but we are ready to give our all on the pitch. We aim to learn from each match, grow stronger as a unit and represent our club and continent with the utmost determination and pride.”

When asked about the philosophy behind the nicknames “Brazilians” and “Banyana Ba Style,” Coach Jerry enthusiastically stated, “It is all about the way we play, our flair and our commitment to the beautiful game. These nicknames reflect our identity and the pride we take in our football. Our First Team embodies these qualities, and it is an honor to carry these names as we compete on the international stage. We aim to live up to these expectations and showcase the style and spirit that have earned us these titles.”

Coach Jerry’s troops will face Kansas City Current on 14 August, while Atlético de Madrid will take on INAC Kobe in the tournament’s opener. The winners will compete for the Championship Title on the 17th, with the third-place match also taking place that same day.

We wish Sundowns Ladies all the best in the United States!!!
