Salome Kekana and Rhoda Mulaudzi Speak Ahead of City Lads Fixture

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies will be aiming to make it 10 straight wins in the Hollywoodbets Super League as they face City Lads on Saturday.

The Brazilians have been in beast mode for the majority of the season and have been perfect in their last nine games, seven of which ended with a clean sheet. In fact, Banyana Ba Style has yet to concede a goal in their last 270 minutes of action!

Despite that incredible run of form, Salome Kekana insists there is still hunger for more within the camp. “We just have to keep pushing because nothing motivates us like a win and I believe we all understand the mandate of this great club. Every game is a new challenge, and we cannot afford to get complacent. Our success comes from hard work, discipline and the hunger to be better with every match.”

Earlier this season, Sundowns Ladies secured a comprehensive 7-1 victory over their Eastern Cape opponents. However, Kekana believes there is no room for complacency, especially given the tricky nature of away games.

“City Lads at home never give us an easy game and mentally we all know that. This means we have to dig even deeper to get a result against them. Away games are always tough and we cannot take anything for granted. We might have won big earlier in the season, but every game is different and we have to approach this one with the same determination. The key is to stay sharp and keep pushing ourselves to be better.”

With 20 wins in 23 games this season, coupled with a league-high 84 goals, Rhoda Mulaudzi believes the mood in camp is incredibly positive. “The mood in the camp is good, the spirit is high and everyone wants to keep winning. We are at a key stage now where we know that slip-ups are not an option. At this point, it is about consistency and making sure we do not lose sight of our goal.”

Rhoda, who was on the scoresheet in the early-season 7-1 victory, expects a fightback from City Lads on Saturday. “We know they will come out with more intensity this time. That loss will still be fresh in their minds and they will want to prove something. Our goal is to keep up the momentum and secure another important win for our title defense, as well as for our supporters.”

The Brazilians have dominated this fixture in recent times. Last season, Sundowns Ladies secured a 3-1 away victory and cruised to a 6-0 win at home. The season before that, they claimed an 8-0 home victory and a 3-0 win on the road.

The match between Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies and City Lads is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 14th, at Isaac Wolfson Stadium, with kick-off set for 15:00.
