Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies notched their ninth straight win of this season’s Hollywoodbets Super League with a dominant 2-0 victory over Royal AM at Harry Gwala Stadium.
Goals from the prolific duo of Boitumelo Rabale and Nthabiseng Majiya, scored in the first and second halves, respectively, secured their ninth consecutive league victory, moving them one step closer to defending their league title.
The result also ensured a third consecutive clean sheet for the Continental Champions, their 14th overall and their 20th win of the campaign.
Lebohang Ramalepe, who delivered an exceptional performance and provided a superb assist for the second goal of the game, reflected on the hard-fought victory, saying, “It was not an easy game at all, but we showed great character throughout. As you know, they are a strong side that does not back down easily. They came at us pound for pound, putting us under pressure from the start. However, we remained composed, stuck to our game plan and executed when it mattered most.”
Thato Letsoso, who played an instrumental role in helping the Brazilians lock down their opponents defensively, shared her thoughts on the intense battle, saying, “They are a team that never sits back and takes blows without responding. From the first whistle, they came at us aggressively, trying to break through our lines. But we remained disciplined, kept our shape and made sure we closed down spaces quickly. It was all about staying focused and not giving them any breathing room.”
Banyana Ba Style has now collected 62 points this season, courtesy of 20 wins in 23 games. They have scored a league-high 84 goals while conceding just 12, boasting the league’s best defense.
