Spectacular Seven: Goals galore as Brazilians breeze past City Lads

Relentless Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies continued their goal-scoring rampage with a resounding 7-1 victory over City Lads at Groenkloof Stadium on Wednesday. The win marked Banyana Ba Style’s eighth win in nine games this season.

Refilwe Tholakele and Boitumelo Rabale led the charge with braces each, while Asanda Hadebe, Miche Minnies and Rhoda Mulaudzi all got on the scoresheet in a stellar attacking performance.

After a prolific April with 17 goals, the Tshwane giants were hungry to extend their scoring streak. Fit-again Tholakele answered the call with a phenomenal double in the opening ten minutes against City Lads, marking her return in style.

Rabale piled on the pressure, extending the lead to 3-0 in the 12th minute. Hadebe then notched her second-ever goal for Sundowns Ladies, adding to a dominant first-half display by the reigning Hollywoodbets Super League Champions.

The opponents momentarily threatened with a goal in the 50th minute, but the Continental Champions quickly shut the door. Minnies, Mulaudzi and Rabale with a last-minute strike ensured a dominant victory for Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies.

Lebohang Ramalepe, who posed a constant threat on the right-hand side, shared her excitement about the win.

“The game was far from easy, but we put in a good shift to secure all three points. We have a big game on Saturday and the win was a perfect way to prepare for it. I am thrilled to have contributed to the team’s success today. With the right mindset and determination, I believe we can achieve our goals and continue to make our supporters proud,” said Ramalepe.

Kholosa Biyana, who also excelled in the middle of the park, praised the tactics of Coach Jerry Tshabalala.

“We had a very good game; the most important thing is scoring as much as we can and I am happy we are consistently doing that. Kudos to the Coach for the tactics and rotation to keep everyone fresh. With such a supportive environment, we are confident in our ability to face any challenge that comes our way. We are all excited ahead of the next game,” Biyana stated.

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies boast a well-distributed attack, with a whopping 15 different players etching their names onto the scoresheet this season. Boitumelo Rabale leads the goal-scoring charge with seven goals, one ahead of Miche Minnies who has six. Nthabiseng Majiya sits close behind with five goals to her name. Salome Kekana and Andisiwe Mgcoyi each have three goals, while Asanda Hadebe, Rhoda Mulaudzi, Chuene Morifi, Regina Mogolola and Refilwe Tholakele have two apiece. Cimone Sauls, Kholosa Biyana, Lebohang Ramalepe, Melinda Kgadiete and Malebogo Shawe have all scored one goal each.

Meanwhile, Sundowns Ladies have now scored 40 goals this season and have conceded just seven times.
