Dominant Downs to Face Biggest Test Against Kaizer Chiefs

Coming from a victory on Monday and one step closer to clinching the DStv Premiership title, Mamelodi Sundowns will take a short trip to the FNB Stadium to clash against Sowetan side, Kaizer Chiefs on Thursday night.

Heading to the midweek fixture, before shifting their focus to the Nedbank Cup semifinals on Sunday, the Masandawana coach, Rulani Mokwena said he anticipates a Kaizer Chiefs side that could give them a hard time in the pitch.

“Chiefs is Chiefs and we all know that in any day they can turn up. They are a big Club and they deserve incredible respect. They have a good coach and I know him personally because I learnt a lot from him. They’ve got some very good players and they are a team that is capable of beating anybody,” coach Rulani stated.

“What will be the message for the players? That we are playing against a very big team and our arch-rivals. We are playing an important game which requires us to go there with humility and a lot of respect. I think as a fierce competitor, Coach Cavin Johnson would like to win the game and I think he knows it’s the same with me. Furthermore, winning the title will be very sweet because it’s an important competition for us and it’s an important season,” he continued.

Following the injury Bongani Zungu attained against TS Galaxy on Monday night and having Rivaldo Coetzee miss that fixture, the Johannesburg-born coach was asked for an update on the two skippers.

“Rivaldo is fine, it’s just that he has had a long spell out and to have three games in a row would be difficult for him and would probably mean another breakdown. Zungu looks fine. It’s a deep cut and fortunately it doesn’t look like anything but a deep wound,” he concluded.

Mamelodi Sundowns will go head-to-head with Kaizer Chiefs in the DStv Premiership on Thursday night at the FNB Stadium. Kick off is scheduled for 19h30, live on SuperSport TV.

Chiefs will expect us to play our passing game with those build ups from the back, they will want to counter us, how I wish we could play for 20 minutes the javeline football that we played against esperance in the second leg.If it does not work we switch back to our normal game.

Ayanda it’s a good combination with Mshishi alongside..but forget it…wait and see…by the way where else you want to win this🏆 then beating the so called big team…if you think losing champions league game was anything..Wait and see if we lose to these…noisy neighbors….ukuthi our coaching stuff when we play these game…they assume we playing alahly!!…start over thinking and analyze too much…not to mention unnecessary respect..instead of run over them…4 nilly score was going to make a statement…since winning the league repeatedly is down played as if we getting favor

Heeee banna, not even an article to say we’re the Champions? Webbie is sleeping on the job or is he/she still celebrating? Well done to the boyz and the technical team. I nearly switched off the TV 📺 in the first half because of frustration, but the technical team and the boyz came back in 2nd half with guns blazing. This is the kind of display that we want to see week-in and week-out, irrespective of who’s playing. It really says a lot about the halftime team talk from the technical team. It was a good display of football all around.

Well done to the boys and the technical team, we are champions once again.Talking of championship it makes me lough when the media gives Chiefs 13 league titles yet they only have 12 infact they only have 11 because the 12th one was a half season achievement.
