Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies enjoyed a brilliant season in 2024 as they clinched their fifth straight Hollywoodbets Super League title. The team demonstrated incredible consistency and determination throughout the season, showcasing their dominance in South African women’s football.

From commanding wins to thrilling encounters, the Brazilians were simply unstoppable. Let’s dive into the first three months of their 2024 season and see how they built their campaign from the beginning.

March began with a 4-0 victory over Royal AM, with Boitumelo Rabale scoring twice, while Andisiwe Mgcoyi and Nthabiseng Majiya also found the back of the net. This was followed by a thrilling 5-3 win over TS Galaxy Queens, where Nthabiseng Majiya scored a brace to continue her fine start to life with the Yellow Nation family. Banyana Ba Style continued their strong start with a 2-0 victory over the University of Johannesburg (UJ), with another new signing, Cimone Sauls, scoring her first goal in Sundowns colors. Despite a 1-0 loss to UWC (which turned out to be the only defeat of the campaign), the Brazilians quickly bounced back with a commanding 5-1 win against Durban Ladies.

April saw Sundowns Ladies continue their dominance, beginning with a 7-0 rout of Lindelani Ladies. Miche Minnies was the star of the match, scoring a hat-trick. They followed that up with a resounding 5-0 win over Richmond United, with goals from Asanda Hadebe, Kholosa Biyana, Lebohang Ramalepe, Nthabiseng Majiya, and Melinda Kgadiete. The Tshwane giants then defeated Thunderbirds Ladies 5-1, with Andisiwe Mgcoyi scoring twice.

In May, Sundowns Ladies continued their incredible form with a 7-1 thrashing of City Lads. Refilwe Tholakele and Boitumelo Rabale each scored twice in that one-sided fixture. They were then held to a 1-1 draw against JVW, but that did little to hamper their rhythm as they romped past First Touch with a 6-0 victory. The red-hot Brazilians continued their dominance with a 2-0 win over Copperbelt Ladies, thanks to goals from Lebohang Ramalepe and Nthabiseng Majiya. The month ended with an emphatic 8-0 victory over the University of Pretoria, with Nthabiseng Majiya scoring twice.

The first part of the 2024 season was filled with stunning performances and commanding victories, keeping Sundowns Ladies at the top of the league. Their attacking prowess, defensive solidity, and depth in the squad were on full display as they continued their chase for a record-extending league title.
