Sundowns Ladies Aim to Extend Winning Streak in East London

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies will be determined to secure an incredible 13th straight win in the Hollywoodbets Super League as they take on Thunderbirds Ladies in East London on Saturday.

Banyana Ba Style have been in unstoppable form, winning their last 12 consecutive games. Even more impressively, the Brazilians have not conceded a goal in their last six games, accumulating nearly 550 minutes of clean-sheet football.

Forward Melinda Kgadiete emphasized the team’s focus and ambition: “We play every game with intensity because we want to defend our league trophy. If you do not win the league, you do not qualify for the CAF Women’s Champions League. Every match is a step closer to that goal and we approach each game with the same hunger and determination. Our defense has been solid and we know that if we keep performing at this level, we will achieve our targets.”

Earlier this season, Masandawana dominated Thunderbirds Ladies with a commanding 5-1 victory. Andisiwe Mgcoyi netted a brace, while Rhoda Mulaudzi, Regina Mogolola and Malebogo Shawe also found the back of the net.

Reflecting on the previous encounter, Kgadiete believes that maintaining a scoring mindset will be key to avoiding any upsets in the upcoming match.

“We know what we are capable of when we are in attack mode. If we stay focused and continue to create chances, we can control the game. Our forwards have been sharp and as long as we capitalize on opportunities, we should come out on top. Every player understands the importance of contributing to the attack and we are confident that our teamwork will make the difference.”

Lelona Daweti also believes that following the coach’s instructions will be crucial to securing another victory.

“Our coach has laid out a clear game plan and sticking to it will be key to our success. We have been working hard on specific tactics in training and if we execute them properly, we will be able to control the match. It is about discipline, both in attack and defense, and understanding the flow of the game. When we listen to the coach and stay focused, we play at our best.”

Daweti also praised the team’s incredible run of form, “Our consistency has been one of our biggest strengths this season. Week in and week out, we have shown up and delivered, and that is a testament to the hard work we put in behind the scenes. It is not easy to maintain this level of performance, but we have stayed focused and motivated.”

The match between Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies and Thunderbirds Ladies is set to take place at Sisa Dukashe Stadium in East London on Saturday, September 28, at 13:00.
