Sundowns Ladies Continue Winning Streak with Mgcoyi’s Match-Winner

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies continued their remarkable run of form in this season’s Hollywoodbets Super League, securing a 1-0 victory over TS Galaxy Queens for their 19th win of the season.

In what was a highly competitive fixture, Andisiwe Mgcoyi’s first-half strike proved to be the decisive moment at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

The two teams had met earlier in the season, with Banyana Ba Style emerging as 5-3 winners. However, this time, the Brazilians delivered a much more disciplined defensive performance and demonstrated clinical finishing to secure another three points. As a result, Masandawana achieved their 13th clean sheet of the season and their eighth straight victory in the league.

Miche Minnies praised the team’s collective performance, saying, “It was truly a team effort out there today against a side that matched us pound for pound. Every single player gave their all and that is what made the difference. We again stuck to our game plan, supported each other and kept our focus until the final whistle. Our success is built on unity and hard work. We trust each other on and off the pitch and that is what drives us to perform at our best in every match.”

Minnies, who has nine goals this season, also reflected on her contributions, adding, “I am pleased with my efforts in the game. Scoring goals is always rewarding, but it is the hard work and determination that make it possible. My success is a reflection of the entire team’s performance and the support we give each other every day.”

Banyana Ba Style has now amassed 59 points this season, courtesy of 19 wins in 22 games. They have scored a league-high 82 goals while conceding just 12, boasting the league’s best defense.

Boitumelo Rabale remains at the top of the Sundowns Ladies’ scoring chart with 11 goals, followed by Nthabiseng Majiya with 10 strikes. Miche Minnies has nine goals, while Andisiwe Mgcoyi now joins Refilwe Tholakele on seven strikes. Lebohang Ramalepe has six goals for the season. Salome Kekana, Asanda Hadebe, Zanele Madonsela, Melinda Kgadiete and Karabo Dhlamini have each scored three goals, while Kholosa Biyana, Regina Mogolola and Rhoda Mulaudzi have two goals apiece. Cimone Sauls, Malebogo Shawe, Bambanani Mbane, Lehlogonolo Mashigo, Khunjulwa Mali, Karabo Makhurubetshi and Lelona Daweti have each found the net once.
