Mamelodi Sundowns take on Stellenbosch FC in Durban in the MTN8 semi-final second leg on Sunday afternoon. Looking to secure a place in the final, despite being one goal down after a defeat in the first leg, Masandawana have been gearing up and are confident ahead of an important fixture.
Speaking to midfield maestro, Sphelele Mkhulise, he stated that preparations have been up to par and they are ready to turn things around from the get go.
“The preparations for Sunday are going very well. We are all ready to turn things around, so we can advance to the final. That’s what is important for us this season – for the team to play all the finals in all competitions. We are willing to put in the work so we can make the supporters, the Club and ourselves happy and proud,” he said.
“We will take the instructions that our coaches give us and make sure that we do everything they ask of us, because I believe that’s the recipe to winning this game,” Mkhulise continued.
When asked what the team is expecting from their opponent, Mkhulise stated that the Western Cape-based side will be stubborn on the pitch. He is however confident that his teammates will match the energy to ensure that the desired results are achieved.
“I think Stellenbosch will want to hold on the game, especially because they have an advantage. We will need to attack as soon as the kick-off whistle is blown. We also need to create as many chances as possible and score goals so we can go to the finals,” he said.
To conclude, the midfielder promised to make the 12th man, the Yellow Nation, proud in this encounter, while they encourage the team on the stands with the endless singing and beating of the drum.
“The Mamelodi Sundowns family is important to us because they encourage us when we are on the pitch. We also want to make us happy by giving them positive results, as they deserve that. So, we will put in the work this weekend to ensure we make them happy on the stands.”
