Sundowns Ladies Eye Perfect Group Stage Finish Against Beauties FC

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies have already stamped their authority on Group A of the 2025 COSAFA CAF Women’s Champions League Qualifiers with two straight victories and back-to-back clean sheets. The Brazilians are now preparing for their final group stage fixture against Namibia’s Beauties Football Club.

Midfielder Cimone Sauls stressed the importance of maintaining discipline and a clear tactical identity as the team continues its push through the tournament.

“For us, everything comes down to discipline and sticking to our overall game plan. We have already shown in this competition that we can defend well as a collective unit, but we also want to keep improving in how we move the ball forward and in how we transition from defense into attack. Every single player in the squad understands her role and responsibilities, and that is what gives us strength as a group,” she explained.

Looking ahead, Sauls also acknowledged the challenge of being the team that everyone wants to defeat.

“As Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies, we are always the team that opponents raise their game against. Everyone comes at us with extra energy and determination because they want to prove themselves against champions. We are expecting the same kind of intensity from Beauties FC, because they will want to show their quality and make the match as difficult as possible for us. For us, it is about keeping faith in our game plan, maintaining ball possession as much as possible and not allowing them any freedom, time, or space on the ball,” she concluded.

Defender Karabo Makhurubetshi echoed those sentiments, stressing that Sundowns Ladies will not allow complacency to creep in despite their strong start.

“We will not let complacency stand in the way of us dominating our group, so we are approaching this upcoming match with the same mentality and intensity that we carried into the first two games. Our mindset is very clear: every game must be treated like a final and every opponent deserves full respect. That is how we ensure that we keep the momentum going,” she stated firmly.

Makhurubetshi also pointed out the importance of turning dominance into goals, a lesson learned from their previous outings.

“The key lesson for us is that we must take our chances and finish them off clinically. If we do not bury the opportunities that we create, then we end up making the game more difficult for ourselves, even when we are on top. We know that our opponents are always dangerous, and so we cannot afford to waste the moments when we are in control. Our mission is to give every opponent we face a real test, to push them hard, and to make sure they feel the full strength of our game,” she said.

With two victories, six points, and two clean sheets already in the bag, Banyana Ba Style sit firmly on top of Group A.

The game between Sundowns Ladies and Beauties FC (Namibia) will take place on 26th August 2025 at 15:00 at the AW Muller Stadium in Johannesburg.
