Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies continued their impressive start to the Hollywoodbets Super League season with a commanding 4-0 victory over the University of the Western Cape (UWC) at Solomon Mahlangu Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Knowing the quality that UWC possess, the Brazilians approached the encounter with intensity from the opening whistle and were rewarded with an early breakthrough. Midfielder Isabella Ludwig opened the scoring in the 10th minute after Sundowns capitalized on sustained attacking pressure, giving the hosts an early advantage and setting the tone for the remainder of the contest.
The second half saw Masandawana raise the intensity once again. Ludwig completed her brace five minutes after the restart, finding the back of the net in the 50th minute to double Sundowns’ advantage and place the Brazilians firmly in control of the encounter.
With confidence growing, Banyana Ba Style continued to dictate proceedings and were rewarded again in the 70th minute when Noxolo Cesane added a third goal with a composed finish after another well-worked attacking move.
Substitute Nthabiseng Majiya put the result beyond doubt in the 79th minute, rounding off an excellent team performance with Sundowns’ fourth goal of the afternoon to complete an emphatic 4-0 victory.
Reflecting on the performance, midfielder Khutso Pila praised the team’s resilience against one of the league’s toughest opponents.
“Matches against UWC are never easy and today was another example of that. They are a very competitive side that works hard from the first whistle until the last, so we knew we had to be at our very best. There were moments where they put us under pressure, but I am really proud of the way we responded as a team. We showed character, discipline and patience throughout the match, and we never lost sight of the game plan.”
Defender Munashe Mugwara credited the technical team’s preparations and the squad’s execution of the game plan.
“The tactical preparation from the technical team played a huge role in today’s performance. The coaches prepared us really well during the week, making sure we understood where we could hurt the opposition and what we needed to do defensively. Once we settled into the game and followed those instructions, everything started coming together and we were able to control key moments of the match.”
The convincing victory extends Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies’ winning streak to four matches in the Hollywoodbets Super League, with the Brazilians continuing to impress at both ends of the pitch as they build momentum in their pursuit of another league title.
If it is true that we want to sign Ndah then i would say we have lot of money to waste,and our scouts are not doing their job properly,the guy is injury prone.If we want another central defender which we really do need,there is a good central defender at Durban City,he is their captain and he is also younger than Ndah.Let us do a thorough homework before we sign players please.
