After posting an emphatic 9-0 victory against Coal City Wizards, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies will be gunning for more glory when they square off against First Touch in the latest round of the Hollywoodbets Super League.
The comprehensive victory in midweek saw Banyana Ba Style surpass 100 league goals this season, a feat which left the entire team in a jubilant mood.
The Brazilians have now accumulated an unassailable 70 points with 23 wins after 26 games. The defending champions have bagged an incredible 104 strikes, 41 goals more than the second-highest scorers, JVW FC, who have scored 63.
Coach Jerry ‘Kappa’ Tshabalala has hailed the performance of his troops after a very busy campaign thus far.
“Of course, we are happy with the way we have gone about our business this season, but I will not say it’s been an easy one. At some point, we lost to the University of Western Cape (UWC) and TUT FC, two of our main rivals, but we are very excited with the way we have bounced back from those defeats. We are pleased with the number of goals we have scored and we are hoping to exceed our attacking output next season,” Kappa stated.
Up next for Sundowns Ladies is a fixture against First Touch FC, a fixture Masandawana has enjoyed in recent times. Earlier this season, Miche Minnies scored four times as Kappa’s charges sealed a 4-0 win.
Despite that clinical result, Kappa is not taking anything for granted against the Limpopo-based side.
“We saw how they beat JVW FC 2-1 during the midweek round of fixtures. They are a strong side and they have accumulated some good wins during the season. We are expecting a tough encounter and we will be aiming to keep our impressive record in front of the goal,” Coach Jerry concluded.
First Touch are currently placed 10th on the league table with 28 points courtesy of 7 wins in 24 games.
The match between Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies and First Touch will take place on Saturday, 22nd October at Wits Stadium. The kick-off time for the clash is 11h00.
