Sundowns Ladies gear up for Tsunami Queens clash in midweek

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies will be aiming to extend their lead at the top of the Hollywoodbets Super League as they welcome Tsunami Queens in a tasty midweek clash.

The Brazilians were in beast mode last time as they registered a dominant 4-0 victory against Vasco da Gama Ladies in Sunday’s clash at the UWC Stadium in Cape Town.

That massive win saw Banyana Ba Style strengthen their lead at the summit of the Hollywoodbets Super League with 61 points accumulated courtesy of 20 wins in 23 games. The Brazilians have also scored a massive 92 goals and have conceded just 11 times, the best defense in the league.

In the aftermath of the 4-0 win on Sunday, fit-again Rhoda Mulaudzi was full of praise for the team’s successful journey to Cape Town.

“We are very excited with the way we performed in the Mother City. Vasco da Gama Ladies proved very tough in the first clash, and we had to step up our performance in the second fixture and we got the result we wanted. These games are preparing us for the 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League because we are fully aware that there will be no easy fixtures in Morocco,” Rhoda stated.

Ahead of the clash against the Free State-based club, Coach Jerry ‘Kappa’ Tshabalala has called for his team to show patience when facing tricky opposition.

“We have to build up properly from the back when we face sides with a low defensive block. If we are in a panic mode, we will struggle to convert our chances when they come, therefore, we need to be patient even when we are not scoring goals as we want. We are anticipating a very tough encounter and we are fully prepared to leave it all on the pitch,” declared Kappa.

The Brazilians have enjoyed fixtures against Tsunami Queens in recent times. Earlier this season, Sundowns Ladies put 7 past their opponents with braces from Boitumelo Rabale and Melinda Kgadiete coupled with strikes from Chantelle Esau, Lelona Daweti, Thalea Smidt.

Last season, The Brazilians scored 15 times against their opponents with an 8-0 away win and a 7-0 victory at home.

The game between Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies and Tsunami Queens will take place on Wednesday, 12 October 2022, at Lucas Moripe Stadium, Atteridgeville. The kick-off time for the clash is 15h00.
