Sundowns Ladies named Club of the Year at CAF Awards

Continental champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies were crowned winners in the ‘Club of the Year’ Women’s category at the CAF Awards in Rabat, Morocco.

The Brazilians famously clinched a historic treble last season, winning the Hollywoodbets Super League, COSAFA CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers and the inaugural edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League in Egypt.

Captain Zanele Nhlapho who was on hand to receive the award expressed her gratitude to the Yellow Nation Army and beyond.

“Lifting this accolade on behalf of the club makes me so emotional. Thanks to everyone for making this award possible. We express our gratitude to the Chairman of the club, the Management Team, the Coaching Team and the Technical Team. I also wish to salute the players for their efforts in making this dream a reality. Overall, we are grateful to our highly esteemed supporters for always supporting us. We are grateful and we appreciate this award,” Captain Zanele stated.

Banyana Ba Style has already begun the Hollywoodbets Super League this season in blistering mode.  The reigning champions have bagged 27 points after 10 matches played with nine wins. The Brazilians have scored 46 goals, have conceded seven times, and boast of a goal difference of +39.

The current treble-winners recently found out their opponents at the Hollywoodbets COSAFA Women’s Champions League 2022 zonal qualifier to be held in Durban from August 7-13, 2022.

Coach Jerry Tshabalala’s troops will face debutants Costa Do Sol of Mozambique and last season’s semifinalists’ Double Action Ladies from Botswana in Group A.

Congratulations to the Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies Team on the CAF Awards!!!
