Mamelodi Sundowns starts the CAF Champions League journey with a trip to Gaborone to play Jwaneng Galaxy. In the 2019 edition of the competition, Masandawana played until the quarter-final and have won the trophy in 2016. This will be the last game of the year for the Brazilians and Coach Rulani Mokwena spoke about the trip to Botswana and he said we have seen how they play and we watched their game against the team from Comoros in the last round and they are a very good side, very dominant in their league and are number one in the log standings.
The Galaxy Stars beat US Zilimadjou in the first round of the preliminary round by 5-1 on aggregate to earn the spot to face Masandawana.
“This game has come at a very awkward time from a mental perspective as most people are on holiday. We just have to make sure that we tick all the boxes and make sure everyone is on a competitive level and that we go out to compete so that we get a good result and be a step closer to the group stages and end the year on a good result,” said Coach Rulani Mokwena.
“They have scored thirty-seven goals after twenty games in their league and we have seen how dominant they are, they play by starting from the back and can cause a threat but we have analyzed them and we will be going out there to pose a lot of question to them and see how they respond and just to make sure we get a good result at the end of the day”, concluded Coach Rulani Mokwena.
