The Mamelodi Sundowns family gathered at Chloorkop to wish the Ladies Team well as they prepare to go to Morocco for the 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League. Captain of the men’s first team Denis Onyango, relayed a farewell message to Banyana Ba Style at an event which was attended by family members, the first team squad, Management, including the Chairman Thlopie Motsepe. The Ladies go into the tournament as the defending Champions and intend to retain their title and return with the 2022 CAF WCL Cup.
The Uganda international and CAF Champions League winner wished the Ladies well on behalf of the Senior team as they embark on a journey to defend their CAF WCL title in Morocco, he said: “On behalf of the team we would firstly like to congratulate you on your achievement in the League and would like to wish you well. We are rooting for you all the time and we will support you until the last day of the tournament.”
Sundowns Ladies recently celebrated a significant achievement of scoring 100+ goals and accumulating 73 goals in the league. Following their achievement of retaining the Hollywoodbets Super League title, Banyana Ba Style hope to collect the second star for the club in the CAF WCL tournament. The former CAF winning Goalkeeper concluded by saying, “The Mamelodi Sundowns family is optimistic that the ladies will retain the silverware”.
Banyana Ba Style will form part of a total of eight (8) clubs that will be participating in the second edition of the tournament. The competition is set to take place from the 30th of October to the 13th of November 2022. Sundowns Ladies Team will have their first game on the 31st of October 2022 and will go head-to-head with Bayelsa Queens FC at the Grand Stade De Marrakech in Morocco, kick off will be at 20h00.
