The game of football is back after almost five months due to the lockdown. Mamelodi Sundowns will step out at Orlando Stadium tonight at 19:15 against Bidvest Wits in the semi-final of the Nedbank Cup.
Sibusiso Vilakazi shared his thoughts about tonight’s fixture against his former side, he alluded that, “It’s a great feeling to be back, feel the grass and hear the sound of the ball, we have missed it. We are onto business things now and we are playing Wits, they are my former side. They are a hurdle on our way to the final. They are a strong side, very aggressive and that is a test we are looking forward to. It’s going to be a challenge but we are up for it and it will feel great beating them.”
The Brazilians have already played in a final and won it, now the clash against the “Students” gives them another opportunity to fight and make it to another final.
“Playing a second final would be great, we take all the games we play as a Cup Final, as we want to be the greatest team and the only way to do that is by doing great things on the field of play.”
Tonight’s game will be an emotional one for Vila as he came through the ranks of the Braamfontein based side and come the end of the season they will no longer exist.
“It is a big loss, the team has been there for years and I am disappointed and sad for what has happened, they have contributed to a lot of players in South Africa. I had my debut there. I went on to create memories at that club and they will always be there. I become Footballer of the Season there and I worked with great coaches, like Roger De Sa, Clive Barker and Gavin Hunt. I am honoured at the opportunity they gave me,” said Vilakazi.
The game takes place tonight at 19:15 at Orlando Stadium and will be broadcasted on SS4 and SABC1.
Pls coach get a central defender, we have enough middlefielders now,or move Coetze back to defence anyway nice win,our rivals were disappointed because they were supporting Wits today.
