This is One of the Strongest Games We Have Played

Mamelodi Sundowns were pegged back on Wednesday afternoon as they drew to Lamontville Golden Arrows at Loftus Versfeld. Neither team was able to breach the defense of the other in a game between first and third in the DStv Premiership.

Coach Manqoba Mngqithi reflected on the ninety-minutes against Abafana Bes’thende: “This is one of the strongest games we have played, both the first and second round, they are a very high intensity team, not far away from the type of football we play, they can play but are also very good on the transition, one of the strongest teams in terms of counter-pressing, they always look to find the ball quickly.”

“It’s a game that we did not want to lose. Keeping a clean sheet against Arrows, they usually score a goal a game or two goals per match. Truth be told, we did not have the sharpness that you would want with us.”

Downs currently sit top of the league with 48 points in the league after 23 games played, with AmaZulu second on 47 points.

“For Sundowns it’s always two points dropped, in as much as we emphasize how good they are at the end of the day we have more quality, we should be able to wrap up games earlier. As much as we didn’t win this one, we could have easily lost this match and this would have been totally different. At this stage I’m happy that we managed to keep a clean sheet against a free-scoring team and we managed not to lose which was very important.”

The next game on the cards in the league is Orlando Pirates away from home on Sunday evening where Bafana Ba Style will be looking to add three points their tally.
