Update From Nelspruit Camp

Mamelodi Sundowns concluded their pre-season training camp in Nelspruit with a friendly match against National First Division outfit TS Sporting, coach Pitso Mosimane giving everyone a run out.

The Brazilians spent some time away in Mpumalanga since returning back from a rare lengthy break after the 2018/19 season was wrapped up in May with Masandawana being crowned Absa Premiership champions.

It was the club’s record ninth title in the South African topflight in the Premier Soccer League era and Mosimane has long expressed his desire to make it 10 championships.

During their friendly match with TS Sporting on Saturday, the coach split the team and managed to give everyone at least 45 minutes as the players work on their match fitness ahead of their league opener against our neighbours SuperSport United on August 3 at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

The report from camp was that the head coach and his technical team are trying a lot of new things and as such, there was plenty rotation. Our new signing Mauricio Affonso was also given a few minutes and looked sharp.

Ali Meza scored for Sundowns, but the match ended 1-1 and provided the tough competition expected when the friendly match was initially arranged to complete the Nelspruit camp.

When it comes 2 nedbank cup it is said Kaizer Chiefs won it 13 times but you”ll find 2 it that the trophy is less than 11 years in existance&put it into consideration that many teams have lifted the trophy&including Sundowns 2 times. My point can we stop this nonsense of short changing us that we r nine time league champions.Where dd we throw the other league championship years? If we r 12 league cahmpions why dodnt we say so.I hate this can it b stopped. It is said Manchester United r 21 league champions in England not 13 league champions.Come on now guys dont feed us wrong information&make it official.
