Mamelodi Sundowns will resume their hunt for glory in the DStv Premiership when they host Richards Bay FC on Tuesday evening at Loftus Versfeld. Bafana Ba Style, who played their last league game to a 1-1 draw, shortly before the international break, will look to grab all points on offer to extend their possibilities of defending and claiming the league title as early as possible.
Speaking ahead of the mid-week encounter, Defender, Mosa Lebusa, stated that he anticipates a challenging match as the Natal Rich Boyz will be looking to move away from the relegation zone, so collecting the maximum points will be equally important for both sides.
“I think being in their league position, they will want to gather as much points as they can to get out of the relegation zone. We are also trying to wrap up the league, so it’s going to be an interesting match. We are trying to play well in every game and finish the league on a high, so I’m expecting a very tough game tomorrow,” Lebusa said.
“I think this season, most teams that we play have resorted to waiting on our mistakes and hitting us on the counter, so I’m anticipating them to do exactly that but you never know. Anything can happen and they can high press us, but I think they also know the danger of high pressing us. I think they are going to wait for us to make mistakes and try to capitalise on that,” Lebusa continued.
When asked on which players his side will need to be weary of, the Downs defender stated that they are focusing on the whole team, but whoever will be of great threat to them in the pitch will be dealt with, to deny their counterparts a chance to grab all points on offer. He said: “we don’t necessarily focus on individuals but the team as a whole, so I think we need to be weary of the team that is Richards Bay. Of course, they have good players but they need each other, so we need to make sure that we cut the supply to whoever that we feel might cause a problem for us.”
Lebusa closed off by encouraging the 12th man, that is the Yellow Nation, to grace the team with their presence at Loftus Versfeld.
“We would like to urge the Yellow Nation to do what they do best – come and beat the drum as loud as they can – and we will make sure that they leave the stadium proud and satisfied with the results,” he concluded.
First placed Mamelodi Sundowns will host KwaZulu-Natal-based side, Richards Bay FC on Tuesday evening at Loftus Versfeld. Kick-off is set for 19h30.
