Mamelodi Sundowns can confirm that several home fixtures have been moved from the Lucas Moripe Stadium to the Loftus Versfeld Stadium, including games against Kaizer Chiefs, Bidvest Wits and Orlando Pirates.
The club received confirmation from the Premier Soccer League this week and as such our fans should be aware of the venue change.
In total, 10 games move from one of our home venues to Loftus Versfeld, which is also an alternative home venue for the club.
The first change will come against Highlands Park on October 23 followed by Chiefs, AmaZulu and Polokwane City. The other six venue changes are against Wits, Pirates, Bloemfontein Celtic, Chippa United, Stellenbosch FC and Black Leopards at different times next year.
Sundowns will update the fixtures accordingly and the scheduled kick-off times remain the same as only the venue has been changed.
The club has already played three of its Absa Premiership matches at the Lucas Moripe Stadium against SuperSport United, Cape Town City and faced Maritzburg United. Only two more league games – against Golden Arrows and Baroka FC in April – will be played in Atteridgeville, the rest move to Loftus Versfeld.
Good we need our own venue.I doesn’t sit well with me when sharing with ssp untd.practical eg they beat us fair & square since they using d pitch
I have been reading bt I dnt see the reason behind that movement or isn’t important?
Football teams that can should be allowed to build their own stadia.
I like it for the downs, sharing is not carrying this time. We need our own venue
Look why can’t you guys take some of our games to moses mabhida more especially Car games we have a big support base there. Some of chiefs and pirate games as well. Go big and go national. We are a big brand know so mobilise fans all over.
I agree, we also want to enjoy games in Durban, it’s costly for us always traveling to Pta, give us Cups games and maybe big games also caf games
It’s Sad that majority of fans for every team just at small towns out of the city. Teams should have rights to build their own stadium
I think Sundowns has the resources and capabilities to build it’s own stadium, and this is the right time.
Is there a particular reason for that?I don’t like Loftus, our fans don’t attend games there except if it’s against Chimps or Pierats. I think you should consider playing other games outside GP, in provinces that do not have Psl teams, just to reach out fans out there,eg Rustenburg ,Mbombela, etc.I hope we will get points at Loftus. Why is SSU persisting on Lucas Moripe as home pitch? They can use their Caledonia Stadium mos.Ja we need to build our own stadium in Pta,demolish that Pilgrim Stadium
Members I’m still lost with our coach comments on Andile, while we all been surprised of why Rivaldo before JALI and we thought, some of us believe we are trying to tell the coach what to do,or interpreted as lacking if confidence in coach Pisto…we raised our concerns when playing Supersport and PMB,We got lucky… anyway here is coach Pisto response on JALI.. which doesn’t make sense..if he’s not starting, and I sad that last week, that JALI,Meza, MKHULISE, MAHLAMBI, Aubrey,Rantie.. need game time to gain confidence, becoz we all saw him giving Maboe,Vilakazi,Lakey, Rivaldo.. time to play even if they are not performing… read below… quotes published on KickOff, Mosimane said: “Jali deserves to play. He played well in Seychelles. He played very well.
“He deserves a chance and probably he will play on Saturday [in the CAF Champions League]. He must get his confidence, he must play.”……so we are right at All.. AMAZING STATEMENT…we are not crying for JALI but the list above…plz coach give them a chance… Sirino is a great player but his attitude is out… now I don’t know whether he’s above Sundowns..he must sit on the bench… till he sort himself out…
Serino’s substitute is injured # Gweru Who else?
Thnx Masandawana
