Rivaldo Coetzee and Tebogo Langerman face late fitness tests ahead of our CAF Champions League first round fixture against Cote d’Or FC on Friday night.
Mamelodi Sundowns will host the outfit from Seychelles at the Lucas Moripe Stadium at 7pm and have an impressive advantage after winning the first leg away from home 5-0 two weeks ago. Coetzee hurt his ankle during a training session earlier this week, while Langerman suffered a knock on his Achilles tendon in our Absa Premiership win over Maritzburg United last weekend.
Both are being assessed and a decision will be taken closer to the game. The medical team has also confirmed that three other players could very well be ruled out for the continental match.
Tiyani Mabunda (ankle), Lebogang Maboe (gastritis), and Soumahoro Bangaly (ankle sprain) have joined our injury list and it means coach Pitso Mosimane is unlikely to have them fit and available in time for Friday’s game.
A few more players who are not registered for the Champions League are also recovering from niggling injuries, along with those who are fit, but unavailable to take part in the competition. They are:
* Lucky Mohomi (knee)
* Tokelo Rantie (ankle sprain)
* Aubrey Ngoma
* Ali Meza
* Sammy Seabi
* Harold Majadibodu
* Nico Lukhubeni
A win on aggregate for Sundowns will take us into the group stages of the Champions League.
Skipper Hlompho Kekana is still suspended and will miss the match, sitting out match 3 of a 4-match suspension.
Thank you
Which first round now…
A test for us to see if we can work without those key players.
I guess the game won’t be televised
