Mamelodi Sundowns have landed in Cameroon for their away CAF Champions League clash against Coton Sport FC. The team has been preparing for the clash and intends on playing the game to win it as per Sundowns culture.
The Brazilians started their Group stages campaign on a good note by beating Al-Hilal 1-0 at home. The team looks to improve from their previous game and apply pressure for their second game against the Cameroonian side to ensure that they bag three points.
Ahead of the game, Coach Rulani Mokwena previewed the upcoming encounter. “It’s going to be an interesting game against a good side that is well coached. We are looking forward to a difficult game. One of Coton Sport’s key players is the captain Souaibou Marou, and the entire team is Incredible with skilled players representing their national team. There is a great experience in that team.”
Speaking of great experience within the opposition, Coach Mokwena mentioned that during their analysis sessions, they watch the Cameroonians games. He added that their league game against Renaissance FC and a match against the Leopards displayed the team’s strength and dominance in the midfield area.
“We have no excuse about the climate, the game must go on. We have to put on a good performance, and we have to do everything we can to win the football match. Firstly ,we have to play well against Coton Sport and with our performance, we should get a good chance to win and collect the three points. What matters on the pitch is the quality of the eleven players and we believe we have the better players”, said the Brazilians coach as he touched on the team’s focus on winning the game.
The Masandawana Coach mentioned the importance of preparation for the players. He shared that after their game with Al-Hilal, they had to immediately start with analysis for Coton Sport. During this analysis, he shared that their findings were that the opposition has different profiling when they play home and has good counterattacks with high possibilities of dangerous set pieces.
Bafana Ba Style are missing a couple of players from their squad due to injuries. Coach Mokwena shared that this is not a setback because the squad still has a lot of depth and quality players, and the available players will be able to deliver on the pitch.
