Coach Rulani Reflects On Victory Over Gallants

Mamelodi Sundowns registered an away win in their penultimate DStv Premiership game of the season as they overcame a tough Marumo Gallants outfit 2-0 at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday night.

Speaking after the game, Coach Rulani Mokoena was full of praise for his team and was quick to emphasize the need for recovery as the team gears up for the trip up North to face Wydad in the Champions League:

“Congratulations to the football club and congratulations to the players. [I am] really really proud
of them. It was a very important win for us. For now our goal just to recover, to get back to
Johannesburg, sleep and get the legs back as much as we can.”

Goalkeeper Ronwen Williams set a PSL record as he kept his 18th clean sheet of the season, capping off what has been a fine start to his Masandawana career. Mokwena lauded the shot-stopper as well as everyone who was involved in help him achieve this feat:

“We are a very proud of ‘Ronz’a and proud of the team, as I say individual awards are only a
reflection of the contribution of the team Its a team performance, its a team record and were
very proud of everyone at the football club.”

The Coach shared a snippet as to how the team from Chloorkop will be approaching the continental action that awaits Downs in Morocco:

“Its going to be tricky we know that, we’re going to do our analysis now. The most important
thing now is good rest and lots of water. We are expecting a tough game and a hostile crowd and a lot of difficulty They are a good team and they have a new coach as you have seen. But they should also expect a good team.”

“[They should expect] a team that will come there and be brave to play, We just have to enjoy the opportunity and the occasion.”

Coach Rulani closed by sending a message to Marumo Gallants who also have continental duty

“We wish Marumo Gallants the very best, the are South African and they represent the entire
country and we wish them everything of the best.”

Up next, The team from Chloorkop will be packing up their suitcases and gearing up for the journey to Morocco for CAF Champions League duty.

Good win coach….I hope the people who doubt you, doubt the team are people from outside the club, or perhaps the media…I would hate to think that it is coming from inside…. I’m sorry to jump say something before the club does…but some have confirmed it…so it’s public…I’m very said to hear about Alex….if you speak of the club…you speak of that Alex….Mr Sundowns himself…remember him Lois before a Sundowns and Chiefs games…epic stuff to hype up the game…rest in peace Alex…
