Another task awaits the Mamelodi Sundowns Diski Team this weekend when they travel to the winelands to do battle the Cape Town City FC Reserves in another exciting DStv Diski Challenge festival.
In the previous weekend, Masandawana were able to break their recent run of losses, after a 1-1 draw against the Stellenbosch FC Reserves. They seem to be coming back to their truest form and will be looking to turn things around on Sunday morning.
In contrast, the Cape Town-based side collected maximum points in their previous encounter and they will look to keep the momentum going this weekend. With both teams fighting for the three points, this game, according to Coach Themba, promises an exciting titanic tussle.
“We are expecting a good game and a team that is going to come with a lot of confidence, especially after their last game. It will certainly be a good game. City is a team that builds from the back, plays a lot of short passes and they play a little similarly to how we play. We have to make sure that we play with the right intensity and we go to the match with the right attitude. We have no choice but to fight for the three points,” he said.
As they gear up for the encounter, the Sterkspruit born tactician is confident on the work his charges have done throughout the week and is backing them to come out victorious in their upcoming encounter.
“We have been preparing well and have watched the last five games of the opposition. We played a friendly on Tuesday to give some of the players that did not get minutes over the weekend, a chance to pick up their fitness. We had Malibongwe Khoza out but now he’s back, which gives us another option that we didn’t have in our previous game,” Coach Themba stated.
“Going into this match we do believe that we will come back with three points, even though we are playing in a very difficult environment away from home. You could even feel the mood in training in the last couple of days, that a win is coming,” the Diski Team coach concluded.
The head-to-head battle between the Mamelodi Sundowns Diski Team and the Cape Town City FC Reserves will take place on Sunday morning at the Idas Valley Stadium in Stellenbosch. Kick-off is scheduled for 11H00, live on SuperSport TV.
