Following a defeat over the weekend in their backyard, the Mamelodi Sundowns Diski Team will look to turn things around when they head to the winelands to face the Stellenbosch FC Reserves on Sunday afternoon at the Idas Valley Sports Ground.
Looking ahead of an exciting fixture between two of the best sides in both top-flight and the reserve league, Coach David has predicted that the encounter will be an exciting one where two strong teams are meeting.
“A fixture between Mamelodi Sundowns and Stellenbosch FC has become very exciting within the South African football spectrum and that’s exactly the message that we are trying to get through to our players. Yes, Stellenbosch is posing a threat in terms of our dominance but the young ones are coming up and are showing that they are capable of holding on to dominance,” coach David said.
“Of course, last season we let the title slip against them in the Reserve League. So, this game is one filled with rivalry and the players are aware of that. We are looking forward to the game,” he continued.
Masandawana visit a Stellenbosch side with a clear mindset to win the match, especially having lost last week’s match against the Magesi FC Reserves. In the same weekend, the Western Cape-based side lost their away fixture against their neighbours and will also be looking to get positive results at home when they host Bafana Ba Style. Coach David has confidently backed his side to emerge victorious.
“We lost in very difficult circumstances last week and Stellenbosch also lost. The difference between the two teams is one is a physically robust team and the other is technically robust. It’s a very interesting challenge always because if we can match their physicality then we know that our technical dominance will help us through. They also have to cope with our technical ability, which they are aware of. We will need to psychologically and physically deal with their aggression. I believe that our abilities will help us win this game and take the three points,” he stated.
The Mamelodi Sundowns Diski Team will do clash against the Stellenbosch Reserves on Sunday afternoon. The encounter will kick off at 12H00.
