Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies will be aiming to make it 12 straight wins in the Hollywoodbets Super League as they travel to face First Touch in Tuesday’s action at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.
The Brazilians have been in dominant form for the majority of the season, winning their last 11 games, including keeping clean sheets in their last five. Rhoda Mulaudzi shared her thoughts on the team’s present mindset.
“Winning is good; it makes us love the game more and it motivates us to keep going. As a team, we feel 11 straight wins are not enough. Winning the league and defending our title remain our ultimate goals and we are determined to achieve them.”
Earlier this season, Banyana Ba Style cruised to a 6-0 victory over their Limpopo-based opponents, with Zanele Mandosela (brace), Bambanani Mbane, Lehlogonolo Mashigo, Khunjulwa Mali and an own goal completing the tally. Despite the comfortable home win, Rhoda Mulaudzi expects a tougher challenge this time around.
“They are always a tricky side—unpredictable and eager to play against us. Of course, everyone wants to beat us and end our winning streak. On the log, they are sitting seventh and in a decent position. They are pushing for a top-four finish, so we cannot afford to underestimate them. We know they will come at us with everything they have got, but we are prepared for the fight.”
Lebohang Ramalepe echoed this sentiment, commending the positive atmosphere in the camp.
“The vibe in training has been incredible. Everyone is working hard, pushing each other and there is a real sense of unity. The coach has done a fantastic job of keeping us grounded while motivating us to stay hungry for success. We all understand what is at stake and that has made us even more focused and determined to go out and win every match.”
Lebohang Ramalepe, who has scored six times this season, also shared her thoughts on the upcoming match.
“They are playing at home, which gives them an advantage, but we are ready for the contest. We just played on Saturday and now we are back on the pitch again on Tuesday, so recovery has been crucial. It has been a quick turnaround, but we are focused and determined. The key will be converting our chances when they come, especially against a team that can be tough to break down.”
The match between Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies and First Touch is set to take place at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Tuesday, September 24, at 15:00.
