Diski Team Look to Conclude the Year on a High

A fixture featuring two of the top teams in the DStv Diski Challenge is coming up when the Mamelodi Sundowns Diski Team play hosts to the Kaizer Chiefs Reserves on Saturday afternoon at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

This will be one of the biggest tests for the young Brazilians as they play an on-form Kaizer Chiefs side, and they will be looking to conclude the year on a high note. Looking ahead to the mouthwatering fixture, coach David Notoane touched on the team’s readiness as they return to their backyard.

We have been preparing well for the match against Kaizer Chiefs. Coming from a win last week in the Tshwane derby has boosted the players’ confidence. We are also happy to return to our home stadium, after being away from home for the past two matches. So, we are looking forward to this match. It’s going to be an exciting match,” he stated.

Both sides have been in scintillating form, and this not only promises an exciting fixture but is also a sign for Masandawana to head to this match, not resting on their laurels.

“Games against Chiefs are more like derby matches. You know, games of that magnitude tend to get ugly, like we saw in the second half of our match last week against Supersport United. Both teams have been playing good games with great results. We create a lot more chances while they have a strong defence. To emerge as the winning side, we will need to break their defence while also looking to dominate possession, which is our principle. We are looking forward to a better tactical game,” the Diski coach said.

The two sides will be renewing their rivalry after the last meeting in April, which ended in a draw. The Diski head coach looks forward to remaining the dominant side between the two. He said: “Statistics have shown that we are the dominant side between the two. We are hoping that it remains the same and we can conclude our first half of the season with a win.

The Mamelodi Sundowns Diski Team will clash against the Kaizer Chiefs Reserves on Saturday afternoon at the Lucas Moripe Stadium. Kick-off is scheduled for 12H00.
