A Champions League group stages entry beckons for Mamelodi Sundowns on Friday night, pending another victory over Cote d’Or FC.
The Brazilians host the outfit from Seychelles at the Lucas Moripe Stadium with a healthy 5-0 lead from the first leg of the first round tie away two weeks ago and coach Pitso Mosimane will be looking on to see his team finish the job.
It is for this reason that the coach has said he wants more goals and will field the strongest team available to him even though Sundowns has been hit by injuries.
Our captain Hlompho Kekana is also still serving suspension.
“I need goals, and I need the team to gain confidence,” Mosimane said as he looks ahead to tonight’s match.
“You could see us against Maritzburg, we were not really ourselves. So we need the confidence. I need my principles and to do things the way I always tell them, those things must come out. The resistance against our opponents won’t be very big. I will probably play the same team and let them score goals. We have enough ammunition.”
Sundowns were semifinalists in the previous edition of the Champions League after being knocked out by on aggregate by Wydad Casablanca.
Mosimane is determined to go all the way having won the continental title before back in 2016. The group stages is a big first step towards that target.
There is no small game in Caf, Sundowns must just go there gun blazing and compete like a cup final. We will be happy to see the guys showing hunger to score goals, it is allowed to break a record, if there is an opportunity to sharpen and perfect things so be it, playing effective football, let this match result view us in another perspective, just to remind the players that double figures are allowed if it permits ,KBY
Ihope masandawana will go for the big win again by scoring more goals to maintain keeping the record of the team that score more gaols in the league,
Go for goals Downs we must do the Neesken way against Powerline fc
Mamelodi Sundowns logo is one amongst all that should not be changed. We love the way it looks and it should be kept in that way.
CONGRATS! wow!
