Pitso Mosimane says his men have to break the ice in their CAF Champions League fixture at home against AS Otoho of Congo-Brazzaville.
The Brazilians suffered a 2-1 defeat a fortnight ago in Owando, with captain Hlompho Kekana being sent off, but Thapelo Morena managing to get a crucial away goal that could help Masandawana turn the tie in their favour.
“They are central African and they are strong, big boys. The Champions League will always have the big boys and that’s when you talk about set pieces and you now really need to make sure you’ve got the right height for that game,” Mosimane said.
“We played well against them when we were 10 against 11 and we had possession and managed to score. If we play the way we played against Celtic and SuperSport United we should be okay. Yes they are strong and they will sit back and park the bus, obviously. But we have to go around it and we can dismantle it.”
The coach said it was important to maintain consistently as games come thick and fast, though he noted that Downs are used to the tight schedule.
“Hopefully our boys will be fresh. We know this programme, we can’t complain about the schedule. It’s normal and everybody gets the same. We should be able to score a goal or two, but we have to break the ice and if we score early they can’t be sitting deep,” said Mosimane.
Kick-off is at 7pm at Lucas Moripe Stadium.
