Downs to Fight for Last Semifinal Spot in the Nedbank Cup

Coming from the international break and for some, national team duties, Mamelodi Sundowns will get themselves back in the game as they gear up for to the Nedbank Cup quarterfinals encounter. Playing hosts, Masandawana will be meeting Sekhukhune United on Friday night at the Lucas Moripe Stadim, with the hopes to march on to the semifinal round.

In Bafana Ba Style’s last match before the break, they were handed their third loss of the season by Orlando Pirates. Babina Noko on the other hand, suffered the same fate against Stellenbosch FC. Speaking to goalkeeper, Denis Onyango, he stated that his side has been preparing well for this encounter and they look forward to returning to their winning ways.

The preparations are going well. Of course, we would have loved to play a couple of weeks back. Once again, we are looking forward to the game, even though some guys were in their respective national teams, they will come and join us in the last stages of preparing for this game,” he said.

Masandawana will be meeting a Sekhukhune United side whom they have already met twice this season. In the last meeting between the two sides, Downs traveled to Polokwane to defeat their counterparts 4-2 in what was a very tight and exciting encounter and will be looking to repeat matters when they host them in Atteridgeville.

To conclude, the shot-stopper encouraged the Yellow Nation to rally behind the team, saying, “To our faithful supporters, please come out in numbers on Friday night to support the boys. We need to go all the way to the final of the Nedbank Cup and we are relying on your support to make it happen. Please come and paint the Lucas Moripe Stadium Yellow.”

Mamelodi Sundowns will host Sekhukhune United on Wednesday evening at the Lucas Moripe Stadium. Kick-off has been scheduled for 19H00, live on SuperSport TV.

How is our team going 2 fight this, whe management fails 2 write&complain 2 the football association &PSL abt unfair treatment&double standards that r exercised against Sundowns.I mean 3 times now Sundowns players selected 2 represent SA and no platform is used by our managers 2 voice this improper treatment by SAFA&PSL.Its only Robert Marawa who spoke on our behalf bt our managers r mute&we become sacrificial lambs&no one wll fight our battles except our leaders.I mean we r in this precarious position thanks 2 ppl who accommodated this rubbish that our home ground was double booked.Just 2 accommodate amateur football/children 2 play while our schedule was in the evening. Was this under 17 women team going 2 sleep in the stadium, who decided that it mst b Sundowns who postpone the game not the children.Tuks stadium is there why children weren’t scheduled there.Sundowns can’t b blameless in this when anything doesn’t go our way the coach wll the one shown the boot.
