Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies delivered another commanding performance in the Hollywoodbets Super League Amplified, cruising to a convincing 5-0 victory over Richmond United at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Brazilians extended their flawless start to the campaign with a dominant display, recording a third consecutive victory while maintaining another clean sheet. The result sees Banyana Ba Style continue to build momentum early in the season, having now scored 15 goals without conceding in their opening three league fixtures.
Despite controlling possession from the opening whistle, Banyana Ba Style had to remain patient as Richmond United defended resolutely in the early stages. The breakthrough eventually came in the 41st minute when Lelona Daweti found the back of the net before Nonhlanhla Mthandi doubled the lead two minutes later, sending Masandawana into the halftime break with a deserved 2-0 advantage.
The second half followed a similar pattern as the Brazilians continued to dominate proceedings. Lebohang Ramalepe added the third goal in the 59th minute with a composed finish before Noxolo Cesane extended the lead further in the 72nd minute. Boitumelo Rabale capped off an outstanding team performance deep into stoppage time, finding the back of the net in the 90th minute to complete an emphatic 5-0 victory.
Ramalepe’s outstanding all-round display earned her the Player of the Match award after controlling the tempo in defence while also contributing on the scoresheet.
Following the victory, midfielder Isabella Ludwig praised the team’s resilience after a frustrating opening period in front of goal.
“It was a really good game for us. We created a lot of opportunities in the first half and, although we probably should have scored earlier, we remained patient and trusted the process. Once we got the first goal, everything started flowing naturally and we managed to build on that momentum in the second half.”
Goalkeeper Andile Dlamini, who was between the posts as the team recorded their third consecutive clean sheet of the campaign, credited the collective effort of the entire squad and the tactical preparations of the coaching staff.
“I think we performed very well as a team today. We took our chances when they came, controlled the game for long periods and executed the plans that the technical team prepared for us during the week. Credit must go to everyone because every player understood their role and carried it out with discipline.”
Reflecting on another clean sheet, Dlamini emphasized that the defensive record belongs to the entire team rather than the goalkeeper alone.
“The clean sheet is a reward for everyone, not just the defenders or myself. Every player contributes to defending, whether it is the forwards pressing from the front, the midfield protecting spaces, or the backline staying organized. Everyone understands the responsibility that comes with wearing this badge, and we all work hard to protect our goal.”
