Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies have made a strong statement at the ongoing 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League Qualifiers, with five of their players named in the Group Stage “Best 11.”
The standout performers include goalkeeper Andile Dlamini, center back Bambanani Mbane, right back Lebogang Ramalepe, left central midfielder Boitumelo Rabale, and right forward Refilwe Tholakele.
Andile Dlamini has been a wall at the back, keeping clean sheets in all three group-stage matches and playing a pivotal role in Sundowns Ladies’ flawless defensive record. Her command of the penalty area and composure under pressure have been crucial to the team’s success.
In defense, Bambanani Mbane has not only been solid at the back but also a key attacking threat. Mbane scored a brilliant hat-trick in the 7–0 victory over Namibia’s Beauties FC in the team’s third game, helping Sundowns secure a perfect group-stage record.
Lebogang Ramalepe has impressed at right back, combining defensive solidity with attacking support to keep Sundowns’ flanks dangerous and well-protected.
In midfield, Boitumelo Rabale has provided both creativity and decisive impact. She scored the winner against Zesco Ndola Girls in the second game, demonstrating her ability to perform in critical moments.
Up front, Refilwe Tholakele has been clinical in attack, scoring three goals across the group stage—including a brace against Ntopwa FC in the opening game and another goal in the 7–0 win over Beauties FC. Alongside Bambanani Mbane, Tholakele is currently the joint top scorer for the team with three goals.
Sundowns Ladies’ dominance in the group stage is reflected not only in their perfect record and clean sheets but also in the recognition of their players in the tournament’s Best 11.
Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies will face Zesco Ndola Girls in a semi-final rematch on Friday, 29th August 2025, at 15:00 at the AW Muller Stadium in Johannesburg.
