The stage has been set for a sold-out affair between two sides who sit first and third on the Betway Premiership tally. Set for Wednesday night at Loftus Versfeld, Mamelodi Sundowns will continue with their quest to defend the league title when they host Kaizer Chiefs.
All eyes will be on these two sides on Wednesday when they meet for the reverse fixture. The last meeting saw them share spoils after a 1-1 draw and the nation will wait to see what the second round meeting offers.
Masandwana come back from two crucial matches where they completed a back-to-back double on Polokwane City, earning six points. Speaking to defender, Grant Kekana, he stated that the two victories have boosted their morale.
“It was crucial for us to get back to back wins considering that had a draw before playing Polokwane City. So, the confidence is back up with the boys and obviously we want to finish strong. We are all in good spirits an we can’t wait for the next game,” he reflected.
Amakhosi, on the other hand, dropped points in their last outing when they lost to Siwelele FC. As he looked ahead of Wednesday’s fixture, Kekana said their rivals’ shortcomings are not going to be a factor when they prepare. Furthermore, he stated they have been doing well and admitted a clash against them will not be a walk in the park.
“It’s going to be a tough game. I think they have been doing well, especially in the second round of the season, to be in the position they are in. Despite them having lost their last game, we know how their form has been like, so we will be wary of it but we will plan to nullify it on the day. It will be a tough game but one that we will be prepared for.”
The defender concluded by encouraging the Yellow Nation to not only arrive on time to this match but to also continue supporting the boys even in the remaining matches.
“We would like to urge our supporters to come early so there are no delays. We can’t wait to hear them sing as loud as they can for us. This is our second last home game this season so we will want to finish in style and we are going to need their voices on the stands,” he concluded.
Mamelodi Sundowns will do clash with Kaizer Chiefs in a sold-out affair on Wednesday evening at Loftus Versfeld. Kick-off has been scheduled for 19H30, live on SuperSport TV.

Said it hundred times and also questioned his level of thinking and educations that if the coach doesn’t have the guts to bench williams we are going to end the season empty handed. No normal person can commit the same error throughout the season, williams is selfish he doesn’t think about the adverse impact his deliberate blunders has on other players and the people who are financially depending on them.I’m sure he is the only keeper in the world who got penalized three times for 8 seconds rule. This season we have been subjected to horrible treatment by both external forces (refs) and internal force (williams). We lost millions at club world cup because of him we dropped lots of points because of him.He is an old man and should lead by an example.Coach you brought this to yourself, when some players make one mistake the next game they are in the stands but old players like williams and Onyango make lot of mistakes and they are always in the match day squad.Williams deserve to be benched for the rest of the season,he can’t costs the team with impunity. The other thing which is costing the team which most people are afraid to talk about it is this thing of trying to please individuals over the interests of the team, honestly Zwane is no longer adding any value to the team,Ntshabeleng was playing well and scoring goals for us,no he is always an unused reserve because some people want Zwane to go to the world cup when he is not productive at club level.
The boyz fought a really good fight. Honestly speaking, Pirates deserved to win this league, they’ve been playing brilliant football from the word go, we only came up after the acquisition of Bryan Leon. My only concern is the discipline of the boyz, this must be the most ill-disciplined team in the history of our club, and this ill-discipline stems from the bench, the technical team precisely. I don’t know why we always attract ill-disciplined coaches. The only coach who was level-headed that we had recently was coach Manqoba. I’m still crying for my coach day and night, and he would’ve taken the team far by now. The treatment he got from management sometimes make me feel like not feeling any pity for this team. We lost the league in the game against Stellenbosch, from that moment I knew the league is gone. Now, we’ve lost Cupido and with the erratic Ndamane and Kekana at the back, I’m afraid the Champions League is also gone. There’re some valuable lessons for our management to learn these season, hopefully next season they’ll be better prepared. For now it’s good night and all the best for next season, Our season is over
