How Downs Ladies Are Leading The Pack

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies moved to the top of the inaugural SAFA Women’s National League following with a 3-0 win over the University of Johannesburg at the weekend.

A hattrick from birthday girl Lelona Daweti secured the three points for the Brazilians and ensured that they continue their impressive start to their campaign.

Lelona grabbed the opener just around the half an hour mark and added two more in the 56th and 76th minute, respectively, to round off a superb day at the office.

The fixture was played at the UJ Soweto Campus and the avalanche of goals also meant that the Sundowns Ladies team registered their second successive victory and have now proved they have the firepower with 10 goals from those opening two matches.

On August 25, the Brazilians walloped Richmond Ladies 7-0 in their opening league outing to become early pace setters.

This coming weekend, on Saturday, Sundowns will be locking horns with bottom of the table outfit, Durban Ladies, away in Limpopo hoping to continue their winning streak.

Kick-off is at 12.30 on Sunday.
