I want to repay the team by working hard and making sure I score – Motupa

Gift Motupa recently made his debut in the DStv Premiership against Chippa United in the closing fixture of a busy January for the team. The striker has had to contend with sitting on the sidelines for a while after suffering an injury but has made a recovery and is ready to give hundred per cent for Mamelodi Sundowns. Motupa joined Masandawana in the off-season from Bidvest Wits with the hopes of strengthening one of the most dangerous attacks in the league. The injury derailed his start at the club as he had to recover and be able to give his best, but the deadly frontman is now ready to hit the ground running.

“To be honest it was not an easy thing for me to be out and not play for a long time. I kept on pushing myself in order for me to be ready for the right time when I am called upon by the technical team. I was happy to be back on the field when I came on in the game against Chippa United, it was great to be back on the field of play and I enjoyed that after being out for long due to the injury”.

Motupa’s return will be welcomed by the technical team as it will boost the firepower of the attackers, who are amongst the highest scorers in the league.

The forward’s return to the fold is timely with the team competing on three fronts in the month of February, as they chase the DStv Premiership, the Nedbank Cup and the CAF Champions League. The ambitious Motupa stated his ambitions for the season: “I want to help the team win the league, also the Champions League. I want to contribute to the team a lot and also score goals as I have been enjoying my time ever since I joined the club and everyone has made me feel great and now that I am injury free, I want to repay the team by working hard and making sure I score a goal and contribute to the club’s success”, concluded Motupa.

What a committed player he is.Eversince it was pronounced last year that Sundowns is looking for his signature, he kept singing the same song of wanting to help the team win silverwares. I felt for him by time he has to undergo surgery. I like his body physique, especially for a centre striking position. He’s build almost like Vila. For a talented player, he can use it to shield opponents, protect the ball, compete for aerial balls in the box. Just hope you will come around and gel with other members of the team, and start scoring goals. Goodluck going forward

I am your big fun, hard work and discipline with make you succeed at Downs because,we are the only ambitious team in SA and Maboe,Morena,Shaulile,Lakay,Lebusa and Cotzee are perfect example of players who are reaping the results of hard work.. I can’t wait to see your combination with Sirino,Zwane,Shaulile,Maboe and Mkhulise. To the technical team you have no reason to fail to win the league and either Nedbank or Champioms league. You have weapons of mass destruction at your disposal in Mkuma and Makgalwa, you just don’t realize it. Remember what they did last season when the likes of Zwane were off form. They literally won us league and Nedbank.
