It was frustrating at times but I was happy the team was doing well – Lebusa

Mosa Lebusa has returned to the fold after recovering from an injury and has staked his claim in the centre of the defensive pairing. The Bafana Bafana international has played five games since his return and has shown why he is an important member of the squad. Mamelodi Sundowns have had a great first half of the season as they are on top of the standings and are one of the sides with the best defensive record so far this season.

“It took me about three months to make my first start as I was out and that was frustrating for me. The team was doing well if you remember there was a time when the team went about five games without conceding and there is no chance as a defender for you to come in as the guys were doing well. The injuries were also not giving me a chance, it was frustrating at times but I was happy the team was doing well”.

With the Brazilians having been on top of the log since the season has started and the number of games coming thick and fast also not having registered a defeat. Most teams want to be the first one’s to break that unbeaten streak

“The teams have seen what we are about, every team we play wants to beat us and that makes the games a bit more difficult”.

In the DStv Premiership this season Masandawana have not lost a game and have conceded only seven goals, Lebusa spoke about how that feat has been achieved by the team so far in the first fifteen games of the season: “I would not say it is only the defence that must get credit if you look at the way we play we press from the top. The guys up front are the ones that initiate the press, the whole team is doing the defensive work. It is more of a collective thing that we do as a team, so I would not say it is only the defence but the whole team”.

Great work guys, but recently the defense isn’t as reliable as the beginning of the campaign amid the changes, more work needs to be done on the defense. 👆🏾💛💪🏾
