It was very encouraging to see Vila coming back – Coach Manqoba Mngqithi

The clash against Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila on Tuesday afternoon saw Mamelodi Sundowns scoring three goals, with each goal containing its own mini story. Rivaldo Coetzee, who equalized on the stroke of half-time, scored his first goal for the club. Midway through the second half, Sphelele Mkhulise converted his chance to open his scoring account for the season. The most notable moment of the day came with ten minutes to go when substitute Sibusiso Vilakazi marked his long-awaited return from injury with a goal which was celebrated with true emotion.

‘Valdes’ has suffered a few injuries that have kept him out for a couple of months, the ever hard-working attacker showed that his hard work to be back on the field had paid off.

Speaking after the game against the Vhadau Vha Damani, Coach Manqoba Mngqithi spoke about the return of Vilakazi and said: “It was very encouraging to see Vila coming back and scoring a goal. It counts for us to see that we can score goals from different angles and making it difficult for opponents to know where we are going to score from. At Sundowns, [Myself] and the coaches I work with, one thing we do is to reward good performances and when Vila comes in and scores he continues. He is already ahead in the pecking order as we know what he has given in the previous matches.”

The Bafana Bafana international has played only three games in the DStv Premiership and one in the CAF Champions League and his goal against TTM will certainly push him to score more as the games are coming thick and fast. The next game for the Brazilians is against CR Belouizdad in the CAF Champions League on Friday afternoon.
