Kholosa Biyana and Andisiwe Mgcoyi speak ahead of Sporting Casablanca clash

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies are gearing up for their second Group A game against Sporting Casablanca as Banyana Ba Style eye a place in the semifinals of the competition.

The Brazilians delivered an impressive 2-0 opening win against the Tanzanian side JKT Queens on Sunday evening thanks to goals from Lebogang Ramalepe and Refilwe Tholakele.

Andisiwe Mgcoyi believes Sunday’s victory has further intensified the belief running through the team.

“There is a positive atmosphere in the camp, with everyone aligned regarding the team’s objectives. The right mentality has been present since our arrival and as a collective, we have confidence in our abilities. We support each other even during training and the results on the pitch reflect this commitment. We have started the tournament on a highly positive note and we believe the momentum is on our side as we move forward,” said the veteran striker.

The Moroccan side were held to a 1-1 draw against Athletico Abidjan on Sunday, meaning that Sundowns Ladies could reach their third successive semifinal of the continent’s premier women’s tournament with a victory in midweek.

“We have put ourselves in a great position to reach the knockout phase of the competition and we are fully aware that it will not be easy because they drew their first game. Nevertheless, I am happy with the spirit in the camp and we are ready to fight for another victory,” Andisiwe concluded.

Kholosa Biyana, who delivered an impressive performance in the game against JKT Queens, is eagerly anticipating the upcoming clash on Wednesday.

“We are pleased with how we started the tournament with a victory. We are keeping our heads down, focusing on resting and recovering as quickly as possible to be ready for the next match. The most important thing is to strive for consistency. Sporting Casablanca is a different but very tricky opponent. However, our goal remains unchanged. We will approach the game with the same mentality, aiming to secure maximum points,” Biyana stated.

The game between Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies and Sporting Casablanca will take place on Wednesday, November 8th, at the Stade Amadou Gon Coulibaly in Korhogo, with kick-off set for 22:00 CAT.
