Mamelodi Sundowns get ready for their next fixture in the DStv Premiership against Marumo Gallants this Saturday. Bafana Ba Style will be aiming to claim three points in the away fixture as they look to finish the season on a high. Midfielder, Lebohang Maboe previewed the upcoming weekend encounter.
‘Lebza’ as he is popularly known by the yellow nation has recently made his return to the green grass from injury. He has already managed to start a few games and also provided an assist in their recent away game in the DStv Premiership against AmaZulu which ended in a 2-2 draw.
Ahead of the fixture, Maboe shared his insights on the opposition and how the team will approach the match. “I think that Marumo Gallants have been doing very well in the CAF Confederations Cup and the domestic league as of late. They are a good team and are not to be taken lightly in the upcoming game. We were tied to a draw in our recent game, and we want to redeem ourselves.”
The DStv Premiership Champions are in the CAF Champions League Semifinals and are well on their quest to collect the second star. Gallants have also bagged a spot in the Semifinals of the CAF Confederations Cup in their first time participating in the Competition. With both teams in possession of players with experience in the CAF inter-club competitions, the encounter is expected to be a tough battle as the hosts contest to stay away from relegation in the league.
“We will do our analysis and homework in order to see what else we need to do to be the better side. Recovery will be important for both sides because we are running the same race as we are participating in continental competitions. They have a great squad, but we will ensure that we are thoroughly prepared for the game.”, said the Masandawana Attacking Midfielder as he assured that the team will fight for maximum points in Polokwane.
Speaking about players from Bahlabane Bantwa that could pose as a possible threat on Saturday evening, Lebohang mentioned that Ranga Chivaviro who is a striker is someone they will be looking out for on game day. He added that Celimpilo Ngema is another player that has been outstanding throughout the season.
Lebza relayed a message of well wishes for the Gallants ahead of their forthcoming semi-final fixture In the Confederations Cup and said, “I want to also take this opportunity to wish Marumo Gallants the best in the upcoming semi-final game in the CAF Confederations Cup.”
Mamelodi Sundowns will face Marumo Gallants on Saturday, 6 May 2023 at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane. The domestic league fixture will kick off at 19h00.
