Mamelodi Sundowns have launched their African-inspired PUMA home and away kit for the 2021/22 season which celebrates footballing excellence and is inspired by the clubs African culture and ambitions.
The Brazilians are determined on defending their title in the new season with their new Puma kits inspiring their status as Premier Soccer League champions with patches of African prints on the brand-new jerseys. The new jersey is inspired by the remarkable African roots across the continent.
Masandawana forward, Peter Shalulile described the new jersey as authentic, with a resemblance to African museums: “The material is soft and it’s colours are not too bright. The kit has a ‘kasi’ feel to it and the patterns in the front that resemble a museum and ancient culture.”
The new Mamelodi Sundowns players jersey has advanced PUMA dryCELL thermoregulation technology to keep players dry after sweating and keeping them comfortable with the features of the latest PUMA tech.
Rushine De Reuck, Bafana Ba Style defender said “The material is really nice, I already love playing in this kit. I like the patterns on the jersey because they represent diversity [across Africa] and our people that are all over the continent supporting us. There’s a lot of effort that went into designing this jersey, I can’t wait to show it to our fans and make them happy.”
Downs midfielder Rivaldo Coetzee added: “The material is the best, it feels light and it’s something that you can wear on the weekend as your casual clothing. My personal favorite, if I could choose, is definitely the blue (away) jersey. I like the V-neck design and the I love the patterns all over the kit.”
Masandawana spokesperson Alex Shakoane said on the day of the kit unveiling: “This unique football jersey pays homage to the natural greatness that is found across the African continent. Looking at the individual elements on the design, they depict the rivers, deserts and mountain ranges found all the way from the North right through to the South. Our supporters can expect to wear a trendy jersey that stands out amongst the crowd and is a proud statement of African excellence.”
The new Mamelodi Sundowns home and away kit is on sale now from 1 September, 2021 at PUMA.com, PUMA stores, Totalsports, The Cross Trainer, Studio 88, Sportsmans Warehouse and selected retailers for R999 each. The Home replica jerseys are also available for women (R899) and children (R799).
