The Brazilians are representing South Africa in group A of the COSAFA Qualifiers being played from 26 August – 4 September in Durban.
Masandawana dominated in their opening two matches with a thrilling 6-0 win against Lesotho Defence Force, followed by another spectacular 6-0 victory against Double Action Ladies from Botswana, making it 12 goals without conceding. In their last game of the group stages Downs continued their scoring form with another 6-1 victory over Eswatini’s Manzini Wanderers, sealing top spot in their group with a perfect record.
Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies secured their semi-final spot on Saturday afternoon over Double Action from Botswana as they look for qualification for the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League that will be staged in Egypt later in the year, the top two teams in each of the groups advance to the semifinals, which will be played on Thursday. Only one winner of the COSAFA qualifiers will book their ticket into the prestigious African tournament.
Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies will play against group B runner-up in the COSAFA CAF qualifiers on Thursday, 2 September. The game will kick-off at 14h00.
