Continental champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies have continued to intensify their preparations ahead of the new season. In recent times, The Brazilians have been involved in several friendlies and scrimmages as Banyana Ba Style ramps up the training regimes ahead of the upcoming season which will see Coach Jerry Tshabalala’s troops defend their Hollywoodbets Super League as well as the CAF Women’s Champions League.
Just recently, Sundowns Ladies squared off against Sasol League-based team Luso Africa in Germiston, Johannesburg. The Chloorkop-based was in beast mode from start to finish, registering a comprehensive 11-0 scoreline.
The game featured a rich mix of both the experienced campaigners and the youngsters as Coach Tshabalala rotated the team to allow everyone to take part in the fixture. Andisiwe Mgcoyi who was recently won the top scorer award at the inaugural Hollywoodbets Super League awards open the scoring and finished the game with a deserved brace.
Rhoda Mulaudzi and Lelona Daweti were also amongst the goals with both players bagging braces while Khutso Pila was on target in the one-sided fixture. The star of the show was new signing Miche Minnies who scored a haul (four goals).
Coach Tshabalala was full of praise for his charges who have continued to display their hunger despite their treble-conquering exploits last season.
“I am very excited at the level of hunger the team has continued to display. I always tell the players that it is tougher to sustain success than to achieve success. We are embarking on a new season where we will be tested across several competitions. We desire that we keep executing our game plan on a game-by-game basis. The new players have hit the ground running and we are confident that they will improve our chances of retaining our titles in the upcoming season. Overall, the preseason preparations have gone according to plan and we are ready to display our resilience yet again,” stated Coach Tshabalala.
Sundowns Ladies will be aiming to build on their last friendly result as the new season draws ever closer.
